Happy Canada Day!

For us, Canada Day is not only a day of celebration of the amazing country we live in, but it’s also Meaghan’s and my wedding anniversary.  And this year, it’s our 5th!  I always joke that I selected Canada Day so that I could easily remember my wedding anniversary, but in reality there’s no way I’d ever forget.  Ever.  That’s what happens when I am married to the most amazing gal alive.

We were hoping to spend a part of today hanging out sans our sons so that we could enjoy a nice romantic dinner on the patio of Bonterra, one of our all-time faves.  That plan got squashed because we couldn’t find a babysitter.  As it turned out, our youngest ended up having a stomach bug and all the fun consequences that a stomach bug entails, so we would have stayed home in any event.

So since we couldn’t visit Bonterra, we brought Bonterra home.  Meaghan and I enjoyed an amazing dinner consisting of:

Polpette di Vitello • veal meatballs, tomato, basil, grana padano, extra virgin olive oil
Agnello • braised lamb shank, cranberry espresso sauce, gorgonzola polenta, apples, walnuts

…and topped it off with some delicious Tiramisu.  Makes my mouth water just thinking about all of this amazing food!

A photography site blog post isn’t really a post unless there’s a least one photo, so here’s one of my oldest son saluting his country.  And yes, hockey gear is never out of season in Canada!

Happy Anniversary, Joel + fam! You know if I lived a little (ok, A LOT) closer, I would totally babysit for you in a pinch, haha! But kudos to making your romantic night in work 🙂
